Thoughts About PSA Article

This article was very informative and has given me several pointers for my own PSA. I had previously decided to put music in my video, but now I've decided to use audio only when I need to enhance my PSA and I want to only use instrumentals. Reading this clarified a lot for me and taught me to only have one message instead of multiple to truly make my audience understand what I'm trying to say and how the way I present my video should reflect my audience.

Public Service Announcement

Right now, I plan on using animation to make my audience truly understand my project with some audio, but not to the point where it distracts the audience from my message. In my PSA, I want to include the benefits of solar panels and incorporate this with people, environment, and the economy. I want to mention how the use of solar panels improve the economy because the country becomes less dependent on foreign fuel. I also want to include how solar energy is a clean and free type of energy, which will improve living conditions for future generations.

Preliminary Identification of Capstone Presentation

I will not need any extra props other than the mediums that I will already need to get my message across, such as the website, poster, and model. For my poster I plan to simply use a stand. I don't want to draw focus away from what is on the poster rather than the way the poster is presented. I plan to make a 3D model representing the new and innovative solar panel that I've designed. I think the most appropriate dress would be just to wear professional clothing, again not to draw too much attention away from my project issue. The main points that I want to add in my presentation are people, environment, and economy. These will convince my audience that my project idea is worth the time to listen. I plan to produce a brochure so that my audience will have an actual hands on medium that they can take. I will be presenting a website, brochure, and my actual end project will be the 3D model of my version of the solar panel.

Look and Feel of my Presentation

A. I plan for my presentation to be mainly serious, but there is a possibility that I might add a bit of humor.
B.  I don't want my audience to feel information overload, so I want to get my message across without yelling or huge, gigantic words. I want my images to relate to my project and to help explain my idea.
C. Through these mediums, I will give factual evidence with statistics and charts, which will tell my audience that I have done a well thorough research.
D. Through my PSA, website, and model, my message will be able to clearly come across.
E. I intend to create a model of a new and improved version of a solar panel on a home with the changes that I believe will cause the solar panels to hold more power and generate enough electricity to power the house throughout the day and night.

Thinking Ahead on PSA

1. In my PSA, I want to include the benefits of my senior project and how important it is to expand this type of resource. These benefits include people, environment, and economy.
2. I would like to completely animate my video with a strong message written out. I definitely would like to add some audio, but I don't actually want anyone reading the words on the video. I want to put in some interesting music to gain the attention of the audience.
3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIvmE4_KMNw I love the way this video gives a strong message just through the way the words are presented. This is one approach I would like to take.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUxKqnEQIw4 To me, this a more realistic approach for my PSA because I can actually do this with the resources that I have, but I would like to make mine a little bit more interesting. However, I like the way this video asked a question, then gave a visual representation.

The Intentions of My Project

The main goal of this project is to improve the structure of solar panels and enable them to provide energy throughout, not only the day, but also the night. By connecting solar panels to a battery that stores the energy from the Sun during the day, solar panels can use this power to provide electricity during the nighttime.
This project is beneficial to the economy of America because it reduces our dependency on nonrenewable resources for electricity and takes full advantage of the power of the Sun and the fact that it is renewable. This will, inevitably, save the country billions of dollars while eliminating the emission of harmful substances.
I plan to major in Electrical Engineering and the purpose of this career is to find innovative ways to improve our current use of electricity and discover newer methods of distributing it. Through the expansion of the use of solar panels, another method of electricity can be firmly established and utilized.
My project will essentially provide no amount of harmful pollutants and increase the amount of money the country will save, causing more money to be generated within the economy. We can all decrease our carbon footprints and assure the future of the upcoming generations by giving them a safe environment to live in.
Improving the efficiency of solar panels increases the likelihood of future generations to live in a safer environment. Because solar energy is a clean and free type of energy source, utilizing these panels can benefit the economy by reducing America's dependence on foreign fuel and prevents further damage to the environment.
